IntrodUl .. :tion Human ophLhalmomyiasis due to infestation with the larvae of the sbeep nasal bot fl y Oestrus ovi.\· has beeo known for 70 ye_ars l and the parasite is widely distributed in the Mediterranean , Russia , lndia, South Afri ca, Canada and th e USA. There has been no report of cases from Cyprus in spite of many cases occurring each year am ong the local community. Three ~ases of Oestrus ovis ophLhatmomyias is in Service personnel were treated at the RA f7 Hospila l Akrotir i d uring the summer of 1982 and the details of these cases are reported here.
